my belly

HEY YA I GOT MY BELY PIERCED!!!!!!!
Yeah how crazy is that. This guy came to our apartment and did it for me. And then he tried to show me all these photos of tats that his brother has done on ppl and tried to tell me how his brother is like the no.5 best tattooist in the world.....since when was it a competetive sport? Whatever.
(Excuse the fat guys i been drinking a lot of beer and not doing any exercise but the boss' rowing machine is supposed to be here soon and then i'll post another photo just to put you all in your places)

What really happened tuesday night???

You know thats a bloody good question. Tuesday night went a bit like this:
jayne and i at skandars having a quiet beer with some dudes
a couple of tequila shots were downed
BLACK BLACK BLACK

My memories of tuesday night went like this:
quiet beer with jayne and some dudes, a couple of shots were downed, something about throwing up and then also a very faint memory of being in some dutch guys house.

So Jayne and i spoke on wednesday morning and neither of us could remember what actually happened.

You know how they say the truth hurts? Well i know jayne was hurting but i was told by jayne who was told by our dude friends that i had a nice big spew in skandars (in the toilets thank god) and then i chased my dutch friend down the street cos he was going home, then proceeded to invite myself in. I was only there for 5 mins before i thought i was going to be sick so i got up and left not actually sure whether i said goodbye or anything and then walked myself home. Lebanon isn't really the place where you want to be walking at night.
But the most devastating part of the night was that we were both home by midnight.

Dont know what they put in the drinks here but it doesn't seem to be doing me any favours. However its not going to stop me hitting the turps again on sat!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mmmm chocolate croissants

So not everyone likes chocolate croissants.....thats cool more for me

Lebanon, nothing but sunsets and clear blue water

Just posting one of the the awesome sunsets we have over here.
If it wasn't so bloody cold i'd be able to enjoy them a lot more.
Summer is looking more and more promising everyday.

And this is a pic of the clear clear water over here thats not very clear cos my camera is a bit dodge but my point is this is for my darwin friends who will be jealous. And coming from darwin i can really appreciate it. And when summer comes there will be photos of me in my bikini every post so all you perverts can piss off i dont want you spoiling summer for me.

The Saga Ends...

If you note my very first post you will notice i slept with someone but i said it was the wrong person....well the right person (i'm not using names just in case in some totally freakish way they find this blog i can insist it was a different two guys) as i was saying the right guy came back from work and asked me to meet up for a beer........................
That was until he found out about me and the other guy and cancelled our beer sesh.
I know jayne will read this and be saying 'get over him he wasn't that hot anyway' or something like that but i just have this feeling that he was the right guy. Not that kind of right but he was really nice and i really did like him. Well he was more right than the guy i slept with.
Oh well there is only one thing to do, well three actually, eat ice cream, popcorn and watch terrible love movies.

weekend in Beirut Part 2

I did this post in two parts cos i'm too lazy to sit around and write it all at once. So i was saying they have cheap juice and its true they do but our first day there we just walked around and shopped pretty much all day. There is lots of shopping and its nice to be around shops that i recognise unlike in tyr but i really didn't think it was that awesome. And then we kicked back at the hotel before hitting the hotel bar for our free beers. After that we headed out for dinner and a bit of club and pub action.

This is where we met some american/lebanese girls who took us to a gay bar. It wasn't a bad bar it was pretty groovy and it had an open bar which i was pretty stoked about but, i know it was a gay bar so there's going to be a strange vibe but there was this vibe that made me more uncomfortable than if i was in the gay bar in darwin.

After that we checked out monot street which is where all the clubs are and you really need to like arabic music or you need to be really really drunk to have a good night here. There were some places that looked appealing but i couldn't get past the music while i was sober.

And there's not much more to say. We did some more shopping on sunday before we came home quite tired but still managed dinner and some beers at the pub here at home.

I forgot to add this pic before....this is a pic of a hezbollah truck that is on the side of the highway (makes you feel soooo safe)

Weekend in Beirut Part 1

I'm home from my weekend in Beirut and i hate to say it but Beirut aint all that. Its only an hour and a half drive from tyr to beirut but the highway still has parts missing from the war.

Here's our trusty rust bucket that the power steering died in and was near impossible to turn but got us there and back without any serious arm injuries. The thing about driving here is everyone drives at 150ks an hour and they're rude and impatient so your driving along at a safe 100ks an hour and people beep at you from every direction. This isn't helped by the fact that people beep if your too slow, if they want you to move out of the way, if they're coming around a corner fast and dont want to stop or give way and if they're a taxi driver and your walking along the street. You pretty much beep for everything so its quite unnerving if your not used to it.

Well we stayed at this really fancy hotel where, being with the UN, they gave us some free beers! woo hoo!!!!

Here is the totally awesome indoor swimming pool at the hotel. It was lovely and heated. This was the kind of hotel you go to and stay inside the whole time your there. They had a gym and sauna. Oh and you can only really appreciate this if your from darwin but the hotel lights in the the hallways were on sensors so you could run up and down the hall and try to beat the lights. Ok darwin doesn't have anything like that in their hotels.

This is a photo of the ocean strip at beirut and the orange juice man. If there's one thing this place has going for it its the juice. Fruit grows great here and everywhere along the ocean front are these little men with their carts full of oranges and you can get a big cup of fresh juice for about 50 aussie cents.

Lebanon's education system

This is just a quick post to let everyone know that the education system in lebanon is a piece of crap.
I cant remember when these kids last had a full week of school. They have holidays for everything around here. They had a holiday for valentines day. When was the last time a 5yr old cared about valentines day?
The lebanese say what a good education system they have but I would like to know how they got so smart if they never went to school! they have another day off today for 'teachers day' and would you believe it the teachers wrote in my children's diary 'friday there will be no school because of teachers day, please do not bring presents for the teachers'.
Presents? You think I would give you a present when you dont work a full week? How special do you think you are? I work 7 days a week, where's my present? Yeah thats what I thought. When you teachers learn how to work then come and talk to me.
Thanks for letting me get that off my chest guys!!!!

Hey ya

so i went out again last night with some british friends Iive made and they're pretty awesome people i mean i really didn't excpet to make friends while i was over here but yes lebanon is exceeding my expectations.

Yeah so i went to my pub again and it was a fairly quiet night as far as quiet goes. A couple of beers and then some tequila shots. I'll be the first to admit i'm a bit of a cheap drunk a couple of shots and i get pretty messy as if you didn't get that idea from my first post but anyway. We have this truly great bar where the bar staff and the owner love us and he gives us free beers and lets us play with his decs and things so they are really great people. So we got a bit drunk and had a bit of a dance. It really is a pub there is no room to dance so we sort of dance inbetween the tables and things.

So this is one of the gang, steve, and me. There is a big group of them about 8 or 10 and we were all going to head to beirut this weekend for some shopping and check out the clubs and pubs but they got in trouble at work and they're on contracts so they got in a bit of trouble but a good, fun bunch of guys anyway.

Yeah so now i'm going to beirut with just jayne, my british friend and ary one of my work mates. So we'll check out beirut and i'll take my credit card as they have all the best and most expensive eruopean shops here so i can max it out.

And there's jayne, good old jayne.
Actually jayne is really really good. I left a part out of my first post and that was that when i woke up the next day after my swim and romp all my clothes were wet and as it was a boy i slept with all his clothes were too big so jayne being the nicest person in the whole world and living not to far from his house brought me some clothes so i could get home. Love you jayne.

Another part of the beach front but this part is extremely rocky. Thank god I didn't go swimming there...or maybe I did. If you look close you might be able to see the snow on the moutains in the background.

Tyr's beach front apartments

The famous beach front that was just too good to pass up having a swim at 1.30 in the morning.

So my very first post

Well i thought i should start my blogging with the most important piece of information ever to come out of lebanon.....I got some sex.
Thats right ladies and gentlemen after 8weeks and 2 days (whose counting) I finally got sex. Now it wasn't the guy i was hoping for and by sleeping with this guy i have screwed every chance i ever had of sleeping with the other guy but life waits for no one and you need to make sure your priorities are in order. And its not like he's a terrible guy I mean he's australian so he gets points there and he's not bad to look at and he looked after me when I got completly maggoted. Yeah so he's a bit of a gentleman.
Do you want to hear how the night went? well tough if you dont cos I'm going to tell you anyway. Started off as quiet drinks on a wednesday night just chilling out after a hard days work and then the group slowly got smaller and smaller til there was only him, me and some very spunky looking swiss guy. And then the tequlia shots started flowing du du du duuuuuu. Yeah it got messy really quicky. I have this pair of hot as black boots but would you believe they have no grip so i go from a standing position to on my back without actually moving. pretty clever i know. So my guy helps me up off the floor and i start abusinig him for spilling my beer which was in no way his fault. But my beer was gone and i wasn't happy.
So i could barely walk and we already new what was going to happen cos he was all over me even though i'm not into that PDA stuff but we started the walk home to his place which happened to be on the other side of town from the pub and my place. (my place is right next to the pub...as if my boss didn't do that on purpose) But its a really nice walk along the beach front until you decide that this is the mediteranian and its too good to just walk past so you jump in only to realise the water temperature is 10dgrees. Of course the natural reaction is to get out of something that cold and i dont think i stayed in for long but the temperature of the air at 1.30 in the morning is a little colder than the water. I know your thinking what kind of crack head does that and I didn't realise just how bad a decision it was until i looked around and found we were only meters from the pub and his house is on the other side of town.
But wait it doesn't end there. I have woken up to bleeding knuckles and no idea how i came to get them. Strange place this lebanon.
